 Japanese volleyball

1895- William G. Morgan combined basketball, baseball, tennis and handball to make a game named Volleyball
1896- the first game of Volleyball was played at Springfield College on July 7th
1900- a special ball was made for Volleyball and YMCA spread Volleyball to Canada, the Orient and Southern hemisphere
1905- YMCA put Volleyball into Cuba.
1907- Playground of America was presented Volleyball to be the most popular sport
1909- Puerto Rico was introduced to Volleyball by the YMCA
1912- Uruguay was introduced to Volleyball by the YMCA
1913- Volleyball competition in Far Eastern games.
1916- Philippines invented the “bomba” or hit
1916-Volleyball was added to school and college
1917- Brazil was introduced to Volleyball by the YMCA
1917- points were changed for 21 to 15
1919- American Expeditionary Forces send their troops 16,000 volleyballs to stimulus growth of Volleyball
1920- three hits and back row hit was set into play
1922- YMCA held their first championship match with 27 teams 11 from the states
1928- USVBA( United States Volleyball Association) was formed
1930- two-men beach volleyball was played for the first time
1934- national referees were approved
1940's- forearm pass was introduced
1946- Volleyball rated 5th among team sports
1947- FIVB (Federation Internationale De Volleyball) was formed
1948- first beach tournament was held
1949- first World Championship was held
1951- 50 million people were playing volleyball per year in 60 countries
1955- Volleyball was included in Pan American Games
1960's- the soft spike, the pass, blocking across the net and defensive dive and rolling
1964- Volleyball was introduced into the Olympic Games in Tokyo
1983- AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) was formed
1988- US men won gold in the Olympics in Korea
1990- World League was created
1992- World Wide Volleyball was created
1995- Volleyball was 100 years ago
2003: Karch Kiraly earns US $3M in prize money and oldest player to win an AVP tournament at age 42
2004: Women's Olympic Beach Volleyball title won by Kerri Walsh and Misty May
