Surfing is a sport of pure stamina agility and confidence you also need amazing balance and strong swimming skills... if you can't Swim you will drowned.. So may I suggest before giving surfing a try you check out a local swimming pool and see if you can swim first..

I have one thing that might be good to Know ....”DO NOT DROP IN ON A WAVE”.... this is one of those things you just don't do in the surfing world to a surfer this is one of the biggest crimes you can commit... and it is not unlikely for a fight to brake out if you drop in on a wave that is already calmed by another surfer...you might end up with your lights knocked out...

Rules of Competition :
Most competition heats are the same all around the world. Its usually a 20 minute heat. Surfers can usually catch as many waves as they want to. This is where judges come into the picture. They mark the surfer on a scale to 1-10, 10 being perfect, 8 being excellent and so on. when the heat is finished the judges add up the total of the surfers best 2 waves and the surfer with the highest total wins. Most heats are four man heats.
