In 1970 James Hale invented and patented what would become the first paintball marker. So everyday farmers could mark their cattle and property line used the original marker.

In May of 1981 paintball had begun in new Hampshire USA. The three main creators of the game were Bob Gurnsey, a sporting goods retailer, Hayes Noel, a stockbroker, and Charles Gaines, a writer. And in June of 1981 the first game was played it involved 12 people and it was capture the flag. The guns they were using were nel-spot 007s pistols. The winner captured the flag without even firing a shot.

Paintball is come from chapture flag. Paintball was begun by a farmer twenty years ago. His name is Bob Gandy. He thought "we want to enjoy playing weekend. Because we work than before." And he thought how to enjoy sports. But he didn't have ideas. One day he saw nellspotgun. Nellspotgun was used by cattle breeding. Then he had a good idea. "We should use this gun to play chapture flag. It must be very fun !" This game was very fun. And people like this game very much. This is the second it birth. At the onset, it was begun by ten people. From that time, paintball was broaden all over America.

In 1983 the first NSG (National Survival Game marketed by Charles Gaines in 1982) Championship was played with a grand prize of $14,000 in cash. Also in 1983 the first outdoor paintball fields opened in Toronto, Canada. In 1984 Paintball started in Australia under the name of Skirmish Games.

In 1992-1993 NPPL (National Professional Paintball League) was founded and the NPPL Pro-Am Series started using different fields around the U.S.

Paintball Growth and Popularity

Paintball has become one of the fastest growing recreational sports in the world drawing millions to its calling every year. The most recent survey showed a 24.6% climb in participants. Since its development in the 70's, paintball has gained a massive following and we can only hope that it soon becomes a pandemic. With the exciting tournaments and constant new releases of markers and accessories we almost guarantee that you will, if not already, catch the fever of the fabulous game paintball.
And this game is played all over the world now. USA, England, France, Germany, Italy, Russiya, Denmark and Japan !
