From what I have found the uniforms started back when Okinawa was invaded by samurai. Because the people who knew karate were not allowed to practice, so they were forced to do so in hiding or at night. That is where it all connects. It went from people training in their pajamas to a uniform strange don't you think?

Now we use belts to show our levels of competition and how good we are. Here is a list of how you would recieve them in karate.

white (novice), then red, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown and finally Black (pro)
