HOCKEY |
|||
The Main purpose of hockey is to score more goals then your opponent. Games are 60 minutes long. There are 3 periods, 20 minutes each. The clock stops every time the whistle is blown. There is 15 minute breaks between periods. Each team is allowed a 30 second timeout, they can use it whenever they want during the game. If there is a tie after the sixty minutes, there is a five minute sudden death(whoever scores first wins) overtime period. If no one scores the game is over. If there has to be a winner then either there are 20 minute overtime periods until a team scores or a shootout depending on the rules of the tournament or league. Teams will score by shooting the puck using their stick only, in the other teams net. Players can pass the puck to each other using their stick (easiest) or feet but may not use their hand. Ice hockey is played in an area or (ice) rink. It can be played outside as well but organized games are indoors. There are two teams, each with six players on the ice (One goalie, 2 defense and 3 forwards). Substitutions can occur at anytime during the game except while a face-off is taking place. The teams are allowed up to 20 players per game. Teams usually have 12 forwards, 6 defense and 2 goalies.
