Locker inspection is today. I'm really nervous. Mr. Sergeant is the strictest, meanest teacher to have ever walked the face of this planet. Rumor has it that he was kicked out of the army for killing one of his cadets.

“Attention!” yelled the rough voice of Mr. Sergeant.

I was four lockers from the beginning. Earlier on, my friend Sammy wished me good luck. I think I'm lucky because I get to get it over with soon. At least, I think I'm lucky... we'll see!

Suddenly, I hear him yelling criticisms at the first three.

“What is the matter with you?” or “Did your parents drop you on your head as an infant?!"

Then, before I knew it, he was looking at my locker.

“Not bad. Carry on”.

Whew, I am one lucky kid! I wonder what he liked about my locker?

My lunch bag was zipped up carefully. All my tech toys were stored safely in my backpack. Even my sports bag looked spiffy today. All my extra clothing was neatly piled on my books. Leaflets for the next few charity causes were taped on the door beneath my mirror.

My mother would have been proud!
