UEFA-Also known as the Union of European Football Association, and pronounced you-Ay-fuh, is one of the biggest organizations in soccer today. UEFA teams take up 16 of 32 positions in the World Cup. UEFA is the body that contols European soccer. Its job is to represent the soccer teams of Europe. They are responsible for running nine national teams along with four club competitions. One of the most coveted tournaments is the UEFA Champions League. It is held every two years and it features some of the worlds best teams. This year Greece won the championship, beating Portugal in the finals. Even though UEFA's Championship League is a major tournament, it is small work compared to the FIFA World Cup held every four years. The next world cup will be in 2006. Currently the qualifiers are being held or positions in 2006's world cup. Brazil was the winner of the 2002 world cup with a victory over Germany.
