22 July of 1996 in Novosibirsk government made a decision about creation of technical lyceum on the basis of Novosibirsk State Technical University.
It aims to give students more profound knowledge in technical sciences, to prepare school students to the rhythm and life of university students, as the majority of staff are university teachers and, unlike at school, lessons here last 90 minutes.
Lyceum is situated at the 8 th university building on the third and fourth floor.
We have several computer labs, where lessons on Informatics, Mathematics and Physics and sometimes other subjects are held.
There is also physics lab with modern equipment to make experiments.
For some subjects, like Chemistry and Graphics, students go to labs of other university buildings.
All the classes have good furniture and equipment, class boards, and posters with important information.
All students from the city, who have finished 9th grade, can enter our lyceum.
The admission is rather competitive, 8-10 students for one place. Students must sit for three written exams: Mathematics, Physics, Russian language. Exams are held during the spring holidays. The results are announced after about a week, as there are too many people who pass exams. There are also preparatory courses for 9th grade students. They last for about half a year, from October until March. Students come here several times a week after their school lessons. They have a possibility to improve their knowledge before exams.
Lyceum curricula is much more difficult than in schools of general education. Students are assigned more homework.
