Favorite Things shared by Japan and Mississippi |

Students shared interests through e-mail: Maki, from Asanogawa, Japan : "I like fishing very much. Is there a person who likes fishing in your school?" Kyle, from Mississippi: "Fishing is great in Mississippi. We have deep sea fishing. I love to fish." |

Some of the biggest common interests were in sports and entertainment Students from both schools liked swimming, baseball, soccer and dodge ball. The Japanese students are fans of the New York Yankees because the player Hideki Matsui is from their prefecture. Also popular with students from both schools were animated cartoons and comic books |

We exchanged cartoon drawings and created the character "Bridget" as our guide across the bridge to understanding. |

Differences in Favorites |

| Mississippi students liked football and hockey (even though the area isn't cold) | Japanese students were more interested in skiing and gymnastics. There are mountains near Kanazawa. Mississippi has none. |
