saturnalia is a holiday that i and the aincent romans celebrated in december. they worshiped the god saturn and had a grand feast a party, gift-giving and giving to the poor. sacred flames are lit to represent a new solar year. homes are decorated with wreaths and garlands. schools, shops and businesses are closed, and all wars are stopped. two gods (3 if on sunday when apollo is worshiped) saturn, and ops. paper hats are worn to signify informality.
