Housing
As I was walking through Port Dover, I was looking at our housing and it is very diversified. In a few cases we are re-using old buildings as new housing. In one case the old elementary school has been torn down and replaced with condos. In another 2 old run down houses have been replaces with a high rise condo building. Two great ideas here. We could be doing that a lot more, especially in cities, but also in our small town.

We are building on good farm land and we are tearing down our forests, just to build houses and factories. When we cut down trees, we destroy animal habitat, then they die.

When I first moved to Port Dover, we had trees and a big field behind my house. Every time I would wake up to find deer and other animals roaming around behind my house. Now there are just houses and there are no more animals, except for a few squirrels. Now when I walk my dog, all I see are houses and houses and houses. No trees.

We should not build on animals' houses! We do not need any more animals becoming extinct. We are not get as much good farm produce, because we are building on farm land. There are too many people who don’t care about animals. They don’t think about the effect of the new subdivision on our environment. What are they going to build on? They are just thinking about getting their new house. They never think about the farm land that they are destroying.

After we build houses, we just throw away all the pieces that are left and we just throw them into the water or land fill site. We just don’t care about what they are destroying and what they are hurting.

Don’t destroy our forests and don’t destroy farm land! Keep the land sacred. Build town houses and apartment buildings instead of scrawling subdivisions.

We have some new condos in Port Dover that over look the harbour and have been built on land once occupied by some old single family homes. These 2 old homes were in need of renovating and they are located in a prime area.

If we do these things, we will have a healthier world, a utopia.
