Government

In our Utopian world we need a Utopian form of government. This is my proposal for a perfect government after my extensive work in grade 5's government unit.

We should have a governor for Utopia or call him/her a president or prime minister. It doesn't matter the name. We should have a democratic society with all citizens able to vote for whoever they choose. In a democratic society, free enterprise will flourish. There should also be health and social services available to everyone. A good tax base is needed for this and that takes a strong economy. We also need a strong, but small army. There are always countries in need around the world and we should be part of that world responsibilty. A strong country is also better recognized in the United Nations. A strong country is also a deterent to terrorists and there are so many of them in the world today.

We should have certain inalienable rights and freedoms. Freedom is important so we can go where we want, to live where we want, have freedom of speech and of religion, and a choice of the languages we speak. We will need a Charter of Rights and Freedoms, similar to those found in Canada, Japan and the United States.

We don’t want a dictator and we don’t want to have a communist society, because we want to live freely. We don’t need a dictator to tell us what to do, like in some countries, like Cuba or what Iraq used to have. We still need a good solid set of laws to keep us safe.

Check out what our Japanese partners have to say about their government system.
