Pesky Possums

by Ben

The possum was introduced to New Zealand by the early
European settlers. The possum is a native animal to Australia, and it is a very big pest in New Zealand because it eats all the leaves off our native trees.

Possums are also very useful because you can sell their fur for lots of money or you could make your own clothes with it.

There are areas in New Zealand where the possum is poisoned by setting up bait stations. They lure the possums then they put in the poison.
