The dog is known as human’s best friend. How do we have dogs on earth? This story is about the dog’s evolution from the past to today. The dog is from family of canines along with the wolf, fox, and jackals. The dog evolved from a wolf. The first group of dogs appeared on earth about 40 million years ago. Proof was found in fossils. There are 400 different kinds of dog breeds. But so far we were lost over 10 dog breeds of canine family. Some dogs have started to become extinct. The cavemen used dogs for hunting and protection. In 5th century BC, the Greeks used dogs as guards. The Romans took their dogs with them to war. The dog in the Middle Ages was used to clean up food after people were done eating and poor people killed the dog for food. During the Renaissance, dogs were companions. Today we use dogs for crime enforcement, hunting, and many other jobs. Dogs were abused in the past while today we have laws to stop people from abuse animals. Dogs are human’s best friend. I have dog myself and she is my best friend.
